Edudzi Tamekloe, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has revealed he is happy the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is preparing to bring back Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as their presidential candidate in the 2028 elections.
The head of the NDC legal team asserted that President Mahama has abolished e-levy the betting tax so what is the NPP going to say again?
According to Edudzi Tamekloe, the 2025 budget has brought stability to the Ghanaian cedis.
Speaking on TV3 New Day, Edudzi Tamekloe stated, “I am happy that the NPP is preparing to bring Dr Bawumia back, I am happy because what is he coming to tell the people again that as chair of the economic management team, they made a mistake in introducing E-levy.
President Mahama has abolished e-levy, and President Mahama has abolished the betting tax, what are you going to say again? And what are you going to say again by the grace of the almighty God President Mahama is so focused look at the budget he introduced this year”.
He added, “The budget has brought so much stability, I was afraid that the Cedi once again would go once again like a bull in a China shop but look at the relative stability. We have been engaging the IMF officials the Honourable Ato Forson has been in Washington the report is looking fantastic that is how you govern no arrogance and respect for people and we will proceed on that tangent”.
His comments come following the NPP’s ongoing “Thank You Tour” with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia admitting that hardship in the country, arrogance displayed by his government, e-levy, the debt restructuring program and the lack of reshuffling of ministerial portfolios caused the NPP’s defeat.
Speaking to members of the party in Takoradi on April 26, as part of the NPP’s Thank You tour in the Western Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “The studies we have done so far, the big issues that people complained about were; the cost of living, there was hardship, arrogance of power and the debt restructuring program. The party suggested we reshuffle our ministerial portfolios.
For eight years we never listened. The party advised against the implementation of the e-levy, and the debt restructuring program. And yet we never listened,” Dr Bawumia lamented.
Dr Bawumia added, “The president announced there would be no haircut, all Ghanaians were happy, but when it came we gave haircuts. When you look the government was not paying NABCO anymore, where not paying afforestation, and the caterers were also not being paid.
Also, in most of the regions that the majority of our votes come from we did not develop the place, the Western Region the roads, the Market Circle we were not able to complete it”.
He further asserted that going into the 2024 elections the NPP was not united.
