Some residents of Adum have fired shots at the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene for always being online.
According to one resident, Dr Frank Amoakohene is only a regional minister on social media as he spends all his time online receiving praise that he is the best regional minister while Kumasi burns.
The locals at Adum have blamed the government for the Adum market fire, citing frequent power outages, and criticized the Ashanti Regional Minister’s performance, questioning why he’s being praised as the best.
In a video shared on social media during a visit by the Minority Caucus to donate to victims of the Adum market fire on Monday, April 14, 2025, the man stated, “With Kumasi burning, the Regional Minister is on social media dancing and claiming to be the best regional minister.
How can he be the best with such an attitude? He is always online. He is a regional minister only on social media. He spends time on those platforms where he’s praised, while the people of Kumasi go through difficulty and suffering.
Come 2028, the NDC will go out of power. That is non-negotiable,” the local resident stated.
Meanwhile, Dr Amoakohene during a recent public event addressing members of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), the student wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stated categorically that he had no intentions of leaving social media.
Dr Amoakohene stated, “Now, they come in with another one: ‘He is a social media minister.’ I have a question—who are the people on social media? Is it not you? And is it a sin for a minister to be on social media? I am not leaving that space because I was there with you during the campaign.
So now, should I become a minister and abandon you on that platform, without anyone getting to hear your voice and what you think should be the development direction of this country? No. So, I will be there with you and encourage you,” he added.
Additionally, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the member of parliament for Old Tafo has asked Ghanaians to point out what monumental thing the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene has done that merits being celebrated.
The member of parliament revealed that he likes Dr Frank Amoakohene’s spirit and the fact that he was in student politics.
According to Ekow Assafuah Ghana’s politics must not be cheapen.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerapa TV, Vincent Ekow Assafuah stated, “I like his spirit, I like the fact that all of us did student politics and we are here today. I like the fact that he understands what he is doing.
Within the past three months Ghanaians let us stop that, what has the minister done that is monumental or significant enough that has helped Ghanaians for us to celebrate him? Let us not cheapen our politics, on social media… ” he stated.
Dr Frank Amoakohene has been celebrated by many Ghanaians for his hard work after he was appointed the Ashanti Regional minister by John Mahama.
