A netizen on social media has called on the John Mahama administration to update Ghanaians on the health condition of the vice president, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
According to the netizen, the silence by the government allows room for rumour-mongering.
The netizen further compared the situation to that of the UK when they kept their citizen updated on the health condition of King Charles and Kate Middleton.
In a post on Facebook, the netizen wrote, “Honestly, I think Ghanaians deserve an update on our Vice President. The silence allows room for rumour mongering. Remember how the UK kept its citizens updated on King Charles and Kate Middleton?”
According to reports, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang began a three-week medical break today April 7 2025 following medical advice from her doctor.
Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has debunked rumours about Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang facing a critical health crisis.
According to Okudzeto, the Veep is in good health and will soon resume her duties.
Addressing Ghanaians living in Nigeria, Ablakwa emphasised that prayers from Ghanaians both at home and abroad have contributed to her recovery.
“Some fears about the state of our mother, the first female vice president of the Republic of Ghana. I also want to assure that she is doing very, very well. Your prayers worked, your prayers from all of us, Ghanaians at home and abroad, have really worked.
“I have heard from her, so I know what I am talking about, and she’s doing well,” he stated.
Ablakwa urged the public to disregard what he described as “vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda” being circulated about Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s health.
He expressed confidence in her ability to inspire young girls and women across the nation.
“Please ignore all of that very vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda that some people are speculating. Our mother is doing very, very well, and very soon she is going to return to her duties, serving Ghana, making all of you proud and particularly inspiring our young girls, our daughters, to know that there is nothing our women cannot achieve that women are as good as men and that what men can do, women can also do and do it better,” Ablakwa added.
Additionally, James Gyakye Quayson, the Member of Parliament for Assin North has also revealed that Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in a very good condition.
