The Assin South Member of Parliament John Ntim Fordjour has reiterated that Ghana cannot be allowed to be turned into a hub for drug trafficking and money laundering.
According to Ntim Fordjour, the National Security, NIB, Police CID, and Narcotics Control Commission have demonstrated clearly they have something to hide.
Rev John Ntim Fordjour during a press conference alleged that two suspicious flights AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B recently landed at Kotoka International Airport from Gran Canaria, a location known for drug trafficking and money laundering. Intelligence suggests these flights carried suspected cocaine and cash.
The Minority demanded full disclosure of the cargo contents to assure Ghanaians of airspace security.
Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, “Ghana in the past eight years, had been ranked favourably by notable global organisations as the second most peaceful country in Africa in respect of crime rate and globally, ahead of Australia and Canada.
“It is therefore imperative that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana continues to be safe and not degenerate into a safe haven for pirates, drug trafficking and money laundering.”
In a post on social media page X, Ntim Fordjour wrote, “They have demonstrated clearly they have something to hide. After I demanded a JOINT BRIEFING OF NATIONAL SECURITY, NIB, POLICE CID, NARCOTICS CONTROL COMMISSION, they have evaded the meeting and are avoiding a meeting to provide updates on investigations into the specific security matters raised.
I shall therefore explore every Parliamentary tool at my disposal in the exercise of oversight until we have answers to the following high-profile matters of urgent public interest”.
- The status of gold and cash seized by National Security on February 9.
- The content of cargo transported by the suspicious flights i.e. AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B in March
- The status of high-profile cocaine busts worth $350 million and $120 million respectively in March

The member of parliament had earlier replied to President John Dramani Mahama over his comment alleging suspicious flights landing in Accra via the Kotoka International Airport.
John Mahama in a Facebook post directed Rev. John Ntim Fordjour to provide all necessary information to investigate the allegations he made.
In a Facebook post, John Mahama wrote, “My attention has been drawn to allegations made at a press conference by an honourable member of parliament, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, regarding two suspicious flights arriving at the Kotoka International Airport suspected to be involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
Government takes all allegations seriously, and to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation, I have directed all relevant investigative agencies – including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator – to immediately and fully collaborate with the honourable member of parliament so he provides all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all action necessary to expose any drug dealing.
We will maintain zero tolerance for using Ghana as a transit or final destination for drugs or drug trafficking. The NIB made a high-profile bust of drugs last week, with a street value of $350 million”, the president stated.
However, the member of parliament has fired back at President John Mahama, stating that he has already provided enough information regarding alleged drug trafficking at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
According to him, the information he gave is for them (National Security) to answer and not for him to be questioned.
He further noted that he had provided enough information so President Mahama must call on National Security to bring the answers.
Meanwhile, John Ntim Fordjour the ranking member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament came out later to say he was not sure the flights were carrying cocaine or money, but he suspects them to be from the intel he got.
Speaking on JOYNEWS Rev John Ntim Fordjour detailed, “National Security knows, at the moment our intelligence is at it, but we haven’t ascertained the actual people behind it. National security has all the instruments and resources to ascertain any further information related to these flights and that is why the question is directed at them.
That is for National Security to set the records and if they deny further information available will be made, we are waiting for them to provide responses on the details of this aircraft their cargo who is behind it”.
He added, “Suspected cocaine and money, are the suspicions our intel intercepted. Nothing stops us from the media from getting involved in some of these concerns, the more transparent it is the better for governance, and the better it is for security.
