A first-year student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Nicholas Kumi Dankwa who took his own life following a heartbreaking incident involving his girlfriend, has been laid to rest.
According to reports, Nicholas Kumi Dankwa was laid to rest in his hometown of Kwahu-Obomeng.
In a video shared by EDHUB Mourners were overwhelmed with emotion, many breaking into tears as his remains arrived at the cemetery.
Reports suggest the young man could not stand the pain of losing the girl and ended his life.
A viral video on social media captured scores of students gathered as a police vehicle drives away from one of the university halls, apparently carrying the body of the deceased student.
According to UEW Diaries, the level 100 student was affiliated with GUSSS Hall One and was studying Art Education.
Eyewitness accounts claim the young man allegedly fainted on the spot after unexpectedly walking in on his girlfriend engaging in a sexual encounter with another man at GUSSS Hall Two. The emotional trauma from the incident is believed to have led him to take his own life,
Sources indicate that the deceased came from a well-to-do family, raising the painful question.
His body is in the custody of the police for further investigation. The young woman involved in the incident has reportedly been arrested and is currently being interrogated to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the UEW student being laid to rest saying, “This Guy did not only disappoint his family but all gents. Lessons need to be picked. Build a tough mentality Before going into any relationship. You can only do so by learning in life”.
“This kind of death can never make me cry irrespective of the relationship I have with you”, another stated.
“At the uni,how much or what at all can you do for a lady or vice versa that will cause you to commit suicide? When you are young don’t take this relationship thing like a Champions League finals. If it will work, it will work out”, another X user added.
A netizen also added, “This guy has really worried the mum. May God grant the mum the strength and hope to get over this in real-time”
Taking your life over a girl who looks like this clearly shows how unloved many of our young men are.
Additionally, dying over a girl whose primary contribution to your life is sex is an undeniably f00lish decision. No woman is worth your life! Love your sons!”
