Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has been praised for boosting the visibility of the region with his understanding and ability to leverage on social media platforms.
According to Eugene Osei-Tutu a presenter on Nhyira FM based in the Ashanti Region, every person in the region can attest to that fact.
“Anyone being truthful regardless of party affiliations will confess the regional minister has brought visibility to the region,” he stated.
He cited former Regional Ministers for the Volta and Greater Accra regions, Dr. Archibald Letsa and Henry Quartey for how they increased visibility for their regions and became benchmarks for their fellows.
“Dr. Archibald Letsa through the Volta Fair was able to bring attention to the Volta Region. Until Henry Quartey did what he did in Accra no one knew what the responsibility of the minster was beyond receiving guest only,” Eugene stated.
He addressed attacks on the Regional Minister by some detractors who claim he has accomplished nothing ever since being appointed to office.
Eugene was quick to point out that the Minister had barely being in office for 3 months and is surprised some New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) in the region expect him to make drastic changes when they themselves have disappointed their constituents, even after being in power for the past eight (8) years and more for some.
He added that if the former Regional Minister under the erstwhile NPP administration has been this vibrant, the region would have experienced drastic change.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene was praised for his ability to coordinate and bring aid to victims of the Adum PZ fire disaster. “Although the Regional Minister is not even given a budget to operate, he is doing a good job.”
Eugene condemned attacks on Dr. Amoakohene and called for support for his activities.
With social media being consider a leveler in the political landscape, Eugene described social media being important than traditional media in the 21st century social media, urging politicians to take advantage of it to reach the youth.
