Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah a Ghanaian media personality has accused President John Dramani Mahama of allegedly mortgaging Ghana’s gold.

According to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, John Mahama is desperately looking for gold to pay back monies used during his 2024 campaigns.

The broadcaster further quizzed the president to tell Ghanaians the country he mortgage Ghana’s Gold to.

Speaking on his show For the Records, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah stated, “So, the Gold we are asking: which country did he mortgage our gold to? That is why he is desperately looking for gold to pay back. Mahama used our gold for a mortgage before the campaign, we want to know the country. We are asking Sammy Gyamfi and his people”.

“John Mahama is engaging with coup leaders, but as a civilian leader, what business does he have with them? Ghana is not thinking, he is playing some tactics in Burkina Faso, and the gold will be funnelled elsewhere because anyone who supported the campaign did not just support it”, Okatakyie Afrifa boldly detailed.

Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah boldly claimed that John Mahama was going to funnel Ghana’s gold through this Sahel region he was dealing with.

He further alleged that Ghana’s president is dealing with Russians through the Sahel region.

Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah stated, “If you’ve noticed, John Mahama and the Sahel region Burkina and the rest are now doing business together, and it’s because of Russia. A whistleblower has hinted at this.

They are saying the campaign money where did it come from? That is why, since taking office, Mahama has not appointed ambassadors but instead appointed Gbevlo Lartey to handle dealings with the Sahel region. One might think it’s just diplomacy, but no, he is dealing with the Russians,” Okatakyie alleged.

It will be recalled some weeks ago President Mahama visited three Sahelian countries, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

He held meetings with Mali’s leader, Assimi Goïta on March 8, Niger’s leader General Abdourahamane Tchiani on March 10, and Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traoré.

The information gathered suggests that Mahama’s visit was part of Ghana’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen relations with neighbouring countries after a strained relationship during the erstwhile Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration.

The visits were also seen as a move to help bring back together these three nations with ECOWAS, given their current hostilities with the regional body.
