A whistleblower identified as Mr Nana Yaw Amofa has shockingly fingered two Police officers for allegedly covering up for a drug queenpin.
The whistleblower claimed that the Senior Officer used his position and political influence to shield Niece from drug prosecution.
According to the Mr Nana Yaw Amofa on February 3, 2025, he sent a detailed petition to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team about one Florence Aba Dadzie advertising and selling barred substances, comprising Indian hemp and cannabidiol (CBD), on social media.
He revealed that he reported the case to the FDA and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Police CID, leading to the arrest of Florence Aba Dadzie.
The man stated, “Florence Aba Dadzie was arrested red-handed, and it was confirmed she had no licence or authorisation to engage in such activity”.
Mr Nana Yaw Amofa asserted that despite the bulk of the proof Florence Aba Dadzie is walking freely and has yet to face any prosecution.
He further claimed that he has since become a target of a revenge vendetta after the accused Florence Dadzie unearthed that he was the one behind the arrest.
Nana Yaw Amofa has accused Florence Aba Dadzie’s uncle, Mr Ransford Appiakorang who is an officer based at the Police Headquarters of using his influence and connection within the Akufo-Addo government to shield his niece from prosecution and has arranged a campaign of intimidation against him.
The whistleblower stated in 2021, Police Officer Basiru Abdul-Rahaman, summoned him to the Nima Police Station, after Florence Dadzie claimed he threatened her.
He narrated, “When I arrived, Mr Rahaman, told me he had instructions to take me to the Police Headquarters. He put me on the back of his personal motorbike—without a helmet—and drove me there himself. This was not only unprofessional, but a grave danger to my life”.
At the headquarters, Nana Yaw Amofa claimed he was trapped into signing an undertaking not to contact Florence Dadzie and was also told to apologise for reporting her.
He added, “Despite acting within the law under the Whistleblower Act (Act 720), I am the one facing threats, harassment and fear for my safety”.
Nana Yaw Amofa further revealed that the original investigator on the drug case, one Mr Affram, had been replaced by Mr Rahaman, he stated, “I question whether it is standard practice for officers not initially assigned to a case to later take over, especially in a situation riddled with such clear bias”.
“I am traumatised and fearful for my life. The person who reported a crime is being punished, while the person allegedly engaged in criminal activity is being protected”, he added.
The whistleblower further alleged that Florence Dadzie threatened to unleash thugs” on him.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has yet to react to the allegation levelled against two of its police officers Mr Ransford Appiakorang and Basiru Abdul-Rahaman by Nana Yaw Amofa the whistleblower.
