Ghana has gain grounds in the latest FIFA rankings, moving one spot up in the global rankings.
The Black Stars now occupy the 76th position globally, improving from their previous 77th spot, which they had held since November 2024.
This improvement comes following Ghana’s impressive performance in the start of the 2025 calendar year in the last international break.
The Black Stars managed to beat Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Ghana’s recent success has seen them move above Israel, who have dropped two places in the latest rankings.
Despite this improvement on the global stage, Ghana’s still remains in the 14th position when it comes to the African rankings.
Head coach Otto Addo will be aiming to further boost the team’s ranking when they return to action later in the year.
Ghana is set to participate in a four-nation tournament in June before facing Chad and Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 of the World Cup Qualifiers in September.
The latest FIFA rankings saw Argentina strengthen their grip on the top spot, following their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a dominant 4-1 win over Brazil.
Spain have moved up to second place, overtaking France, while Portugal dropped below the Netherlands. Germany, meanwhile, have closed the gap on Italy after back-to-back wins.
In North America, Mexico’s Nations League triumph lifted them to 17th place, just behind the USA, while Canada climbed to their highest-ever position at 30th.
Elsewhere, Myanmar recorded the biggest jump, moving seven places up to 162nd.
