The vice Chairman of the Bawumia campaign team Nana Akomea has stated the raid by National Security operatives on the home of the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is tantamount to robbery.
According to Nana Akomea, If National Security enters your house and destroys your gate, destroys your things they are no different from armed robbers.
Speaking on Peace FM, Nana Akomea stated, “What happened is tantamount to robbery. If someone enters your house and destroys your gate, destroys your things, if that’s what national security does, then they’re no different from armed robbers,” Akomea said on a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo.
“If national security can break into people’s homes and destroy things, then we are all in danger,” he added.
He further asked, “If the person is not home and you break into their house, if that’s national security, then is that how a security agency should behave?”
The home of the Aide-De-Camp (ADC) of the former Vice President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was raided by some National Security operatives.
Reports suggest the main gate to the ADC home in Accra was destroyed to allow the security operatives to search the building.
According to reports, all doors to the bedrooms were destroyed and the house was ransacked.
It has also been revealed that after hours of search, the National Security Operatives at the home of Bawumia ADC took away the hard drive of the CCTV.
A similar incident occurred some weeks ago when reports emerged that the director of special operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa had led about 20 armed men to raid the home of former BoG Governor Ernest Addison.
According to reports, the raid occurred on Wednesday 19 March 2025 at around 5 am at Ernest Addison’s home in Accra.
The information gathered suggests Dr Addison was home when Richard Jakpa and his 20 armed men wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles raided his property.
The National Security immediately disabled the CCTV system at the property and demanded Dr Addison lead them to the vaults in his house.
Dr Addison later revealed he had no vaults or cache of cash at home.
The information gathered also suggests the National Security operatives later allegedly ransacked the house with no vault being found and no large amounts of cash were found.
Richard Jakpa after leading National Security officers to raid the home of Ken Ofori Atta has yet again stormed another home of high-profile former appointees of former president Akufo-Addo.
However, Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General revealed that warrants were procured to raid the home of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison.
According to the Deputy Attorney General, the raid was done in accordance with the law.
Speaking to the media in Accra on Thursday, March 20, the Deputy Attorney General stated, “We take responsibility for the search that happened. We want to make it clear that those searches and the mode in which they were done were in accordance with the law. Warrants were procured and used”.
It is yet to be established if the raid carried out at the home of the former Aide-De-Camp (ADC) of the former Vice President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was also carried out following the law.
