Dr Omane Boamah has fired shots at the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia after his latest comments on the cause of NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
According to the NDC man, Dr Bawumia was critical for the NPP’s economic mess.
He asserted that the former vice president is blaming everything and everybody for the defeat except himself.
In a Facebook post, Dr Omane Boamah wrote, “Elections 2024: Bawumia is blaming everything & everybody EXCEPT HIMSELF. Bawumia was critical for NPP’s economic mess!”.
Dr Omane Boamah’s comments come Dr Bawumia confessed that hardship in the country, arrogance displayed by the government, e-levy, the debt restructuring program and the lack of reshuffling of ministerial portfolios caused the NPP’s defeat.
Speaking to members of the party in Takoradi on April 26, as part of the NPP’s Thank You tour in the Western Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “The studies we have done so far, the big issues that people complained about were; the cost of living, there was hardship, arrogance of power and the debt restructuring program. The party suggested we reshuffle our ministerial portfolios.
For eight years we never listened. The party advised against the implementation of the e-levy, and the debt restructuring program. And yet we never listened,” Dr Bawumia lamented.
Dr Bawumia added, “The president announced there would be no haircut, all Ghanaians were happy, but when it came we gave haircuts. When you look the government was not paying NABCO anymore, where not paying afforestation, and the caterers were also not being paid.
Also, in most of the regions that the majority of our votes come from we did not develop the place, the Western Region the roads, the Market Circle we were not able to complete it”.
He also asserted that the spending $58 million in public funds on the National Cathedral also contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
According to Dr Bawumia, three days before election day fuel prices also went up.
Dr Bawumia stated, “The national cathedral we were not able to complete after $58 million was sunk into it, caused a lot of rage in the public”.
“Also, three days before the election day, the price of fuel went up. When I heard it, I thought it was a joke. The drivers were angry at us. So, people went to vote against us with anger”, he added.
