The Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has extended warm wishes to the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid al Fitr.
In a statement, she acknowledged their dedication, values, and contributions, emphasizing their role in enriching the nation and the world.
She wished them joy, peace, and renewed strength during the celebrations.
“On this blessed occasion, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. Your dedication, values, and contributions enrich our nation and the world. May this celebration bring you joy, peace, and renewed strength,” portions of the statement read.
“Likewise, I would like to say thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments and well wishes this weekend,” she expressed in regard to her ill health.
The Vice President was rushed to to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025 after a sudden illness on Friday night after work.
However, after administering the initial treatment, experts from the University of Ghana Medical Centre advised she seeks further treatment abroad.
It is unclear when she will be travelling to seek medical attention, but she is set to leave as soon as possible to restore her health to normalcy.
This health update was disclosed in a statement issued by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
“We wish the Vice President a speedy recovery,” it read.
The government has not disclosed further details about her condition or the specific country where she will be receiving treatment.
Members of the opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP) has also called on the government to be transparent about the health of the Vice President, and provide details on her health to the Ghanaian people.
