The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Murtala Mohammed, has tackled the Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Alhassan Tampuli after he body shamed a member of parliament on the floor of parliament.
Murtala Mohammed quizzed Alhassan Tampuli if he would be happy if he called him as short as Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on the floor of parliament, Alhassan Tampuli compared a colleague member of parliament to Idi Amin.
The member of parliament however insisted that he was not saying the member of parliament was a dictator.
Alhassan Tampuli, “I said Idi Amin probably because of their body size, I’m making reference so there could be similarities between the two of them, I haven’t said he is a dictator”.
Murtala Mohammed reacting to Alhassan Tampuli’s comments stated he ought to apologise to the member of parliament he body-shamed who was not in the chamber.
The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation stated, “He ought to apologise to our colleague who is not here, to body shame him. How would you take it, if he said you are as short as Nana Addo? How will you feel, when you see someone is rising up?
Someone is rising up, and that is the reason why you should body shame him, and I think that you should do the needful, he is not here”, he added.
Murtala Mohammed later apologised to Alhassan Tampuli saying, “If you feel offended because I described you as short as Nana Addo, I sincerely apologise and withdraw, so would you do the needful, I expect you to do the needful”.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed has reacted to members of the minority caucus wearing black and red to parliament on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
According to the MP, the minority were simply mourning the death of their party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“But for them to be in Black, I think that it was just mourning the demise of the NPP,” Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed said on Starr FM.
However, Alhassan Tampuli has explained the reason why the Minority wore black attire to Parliament for President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address.
According to him, the action was in solidarity with the Ghanaians who were unjustifiably sacked by the Mahama administration.
He wrote on Facebook, “The Minority’s black outfit in parliament today is in solidarity with the many Ghanaian employees who have been unjustifiably dismissed by the NDC Mahama government. The Ghanaian youth deserve better”.
