Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney General has revealed in the coming days the member of parliament who was paid to kill the NSS ghost names scandal would be named.

The Deputy AG is quoted by GHONE TV to have stated, “ In the coming days, we’ll name the MP who was paid to kill the NSS ghost names scandal’.

Dr Dominic Ayine the AG revealed yesterday 24 March 2025, that the former Chief Executive of the National Service Scheme (NSS) made a payment to a member of parliament to kill the story on the NSS ghost names scandal.

According to Dr Dominic Ayine, they now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by vendors.

He further disclosed that in November 2024, the CEO and others paid a Ghanaian MP to kill the story in the media and to defend them.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Dr Ayine disclosed, “Indeed, we now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by vendors, private vendors, and staff of the scheme,” he stated.

“We also have evidence that in November 2024… the CEO of the National Service Scheme and others paid a Ghanaian MP to kill the story in the media, and to defend them. Now, this is a developing story, and more of it will come out very soon,” he added.

The Attorney General further revealed that the investigation will conclude in the National Service and Sky Train scandals by the middle of April.

“I can confirm that investigation will conclude in the National Service and Sky Train scandals by the middle of April for prosecutions to proceed”.

“In the National Service scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated, and a good number of them have started ‘singing’ literally. We will give you details of their songs at the appropriate time”, he said during a briefing.

Meanwhile, Sulemana Braimah, the Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has called on Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine to name the member of parliament to whom money was given to kill the NSS ‘ghost scandal’ story.

Sulemana Braimah in a Facebook post noted that the AG exposing the MP will be in the interest of transparency and also to protect the reputation of Parliament.

He wrote on Facebook, “We call on the Attorney General (AG) to name the said MP to whom money was given to kill the story. Doing so will be in the interest of transparency and also to protect the reputation of Parliament.”

Meanwhile, information gathered suggests the former Director General of the National Service Authority, Osei Assibey Antwi has been picked up by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

According to the reports, Osei Assibey Antwi was picked up in the early hours of today 21 March 2025.

Osei Assibey Antwi is the latest to be picked up by the NIB after Gifty Oware-Mensah, the Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSS) was also picked up and later released by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).

Gifty Oware-Mensah was detained in connection with the NIB probe in the NSS ghost names scandal.

According to reports, she was taken into custody on Friday, March 7, 2025, and has since been denied bail.

Yaw Danso a  National Service Authority (NSA) Accountant was also detained but later released by the NIB over the NSS ghost names scandal.

Kwaku Ohene Gyan a former deputy director of the NSA was also some weeks ago detained and later released after questioning by the NIB.

The NIB picking and detaining them comes after President John Dramani Mahama’s order to the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to investigate the NSS ‘ghost names’ scandal.

81,885 suspected ghost names on the payroll of the NSS following a head count of active National Service personnel at the behest of the Minister for Finance as a prerequisite for the clearance of allowance arrears dating back to August 2024.
