A Kasoa resident has blown an alarm on a water truck virtually broken into two used in the supply of water in Kasoa and its surroundings.
The resident has raised concern over the continuous usage of a faulty Hyundai truck by a road user despite its poor condition.
According to the resident, the owner of the virtually broken Hyundai truck insists on not fixing the car but will continue to use it in the supply of water for residents.
The resident further lamented the disregard for the safety of other pedestrians by the driver of the vehicle, who reportedly runs a water sales operation.
In a viral video shared on social media, the virtually broken Hyundai truck was spotted being used on the road.
A narrator in the video stated, “This car, you can see it’s broken into two, water tanker, but still, the owner of the car is still using it and insists he is not going to fix it, he insists he is going to use it to supply water to households for money in his pocket.
Which issue is this, the car is virtually broken into two, yet still, he is using it to supply water in Kasoa and other surroundings, What a country within a country”, he added.
Some Ghanaians on X have reacted to the video saying, “Ghana for uu until it kills him or kills someone else before he will reason up. For the police they are busily collecting their daily 10 cedis They don’t care about you”.
Another stated, “Ah so if it can be fixed, why is he not fixing it ? Which kind of carelessness be this”.
Additionally a netizen also added the car probably has a road-worthy certificate, “This car probably has a road-worthy certificate 😂”, the user stated.
However with the state in which the Hyundai truck is there is no way it could have passed a road-worthy certificate inspection unless the owner bribed his way through the system.
Meanwhile, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has issued a strong warning to drivers and vehicle owners.
The DVLA has urged drivers and vehicle owners to renew their driver’s licenses and roadworthy certificates promptly.
In a statement released on Tuesday, January 23, the DVLA stated, “Driver License holders and vehicle owners who fail to renew their licenses and roadworthy certificates on or before the expiry dates as indicated on their documents shall be made to pay for the appropriate delinquency charges as provided for, in the Fees and Charges Instrument 2015 (L.I 220),”
“DVLA further wishes to inform customers that Regulation 15 (1) of the L.I 2180 provides that “where a motor vehicle is not in use during the stipulated validity period for roadworthiness, a person may apply to the Licensing Authority to cancel the Vehicle Registration Certificate and issue the applicant with a Lay-Off Certificate”, the statement added.
