Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds wreaked havoc at the A&C Mall in East Legon, Accra, on the evening of Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
The heavy rains and strong winds resulted in the collapse of the solar panel car park shed and caused significant damage to over 50 vehicles.
Viral videos on social media showed the shelter covering the parking area was torn down by the force of the wind, trapping several cars underneath the debris.
The videos show that collapse of the shed has caused considerable losses for vehicle owners and the mall itself.
Trees at the car park have also fallen on some of the cars.
It is reported that two individuals were trapped under the collapsed shed but they were rescued by security personnel and some patrons of the mall.
The scene was described by eyewitnesses as chaotic with patrons of the mall running for safety
