A video has surfaced on social media of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, once again demonstrating his humility and kindness as modestly rejected a token of money from the Pentecost Church.
According to the Asantehene, the money being offered to him by the Pentecost Church should be used as an offertory for him at the church.
In the video shared by EDHUB a delegation from the Church of Pentecost at Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, led by Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey, visited the Manhyia Palace on Friday, 28th February 2025.
During the visit church leaders tried to present a token of appreciation to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II but their token was modestly declined.
In the video that has since gone viral online, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was heard saying in the video, “You should use it as offertory for me”.
According to reports, Apostle Dzemekey later prayed for the Asantehene’s well-being and requested the chance to pray with him frequently.
Ghanaians under the post have heaped praises on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II saying, “ True leadership, the poor need it more than the royalties who are already born in riches. They could’ve donated that token to his educational fund instead”.
“A good gesture from the Asantehene. He’s like there are more people who need this in the church. Give it to them. Sometimes the hypocrisy of the church SMH”, another wrote.
A user also stated, “Religious institutions (churches, mosques) can help reduce unemployment by investing their resources in establishing industries or factories, thereby creating jobs for their youth members and contributing to national development, by employing the youth in the church”.
Additionally, a social media user added, “ Simple, the ordinary Ghanaian need this money than I need. Build schools, and hospitals and that would be more appreciated than giving me money”.
