A social media user, has accused the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) of kidnapping the embattled former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah.

According to him, so far as her husband and lawyers do not know where she is being held, then the NIB’s actions can be interpreted as kidnapping.

The X user, identified as @YMarfoAdu argues the “kidnapping” does not make sense as Gifty was arrested the day she arrived in Ghana and was later granted bail.

“The NIB has kidnapped Gifty Oware. Her lawyers and her husband do not know where she is being held. It’s important to note that she was arrested the day she arrived in Ghana and was later granted bail. So where from this nonsense?” he wrote.

There have been report the NIB picked up Gifty Oware-Mensah on Friday, March 7, 2025 and has since been denied bail.

Gifty Oware-Aboagye has been fingered deeply in the NSS ghost name scandal, according to reports she oversaw the payment of some allowances into the accounts of 81,885 ghost service personnel.

Honourable Mustapha Ussif, Akufo-Addo’s first NSS CEO, Henry Nana Boakye a board member of the NSS, Gifty Oware, Kwaku Ohene Djan, Osei Assibey Antwi are among the 5 fingered in the NSS ghost scandal.

Reports about 17 persons could likely be invited for questioning as the NSS ghost name scandal started from 2017 to 2024 when they were exposed.

In the heat of these allegations, reports revealed Gifty Oware-Mensah was in Morocco with the female national team as the chairperson of the Management Committee.

It was also claimed Gifty Oware-Mensah will come back to Ghana with the team and avail herself of accountability.

On February 4, 2025 a video surfaced of Gifty Oware Mensah arriving at the Kotoka International Airport after reports she had gone into hiding as the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) intensified its investigation.

In the video shared by social media influencers, Kalyjay Gifty Oware Mensah was captured at the arrival hall of Terminal 3 at the Kotoka International Airport.
