A broadcast Journalist Gordon Asare Bediako has dared Dr Dominic Ayine the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to tell Ghanaians why Nyaho Tamakloe’s son jailed for 10 years for drugs is walking free.
In 2007 an Accra Fast Track High Court handed a 10-year jail term each on Ellis Tamakloe, a student and son of Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe Ghana’s then Ambassador to Serbia and another for attempted exportation of narcotic drugs and possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.
According to the facts of the case are that Ocloo took a parcel to the DHL office at Kanda in Accra to be sent to the U.K. but the operational manager discovered that the parcel contained some compressed dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The prosecution said the DHL subsequently reported the matter to the Narcotics Control Board and that led to the arrest of Ocloo and a subsequent search in Ocloo’s room led to the discovery of several way bills, including the one used for the unsuccessful export.
During interrogation, Ocloo allegedly mentioned Tamakloe as the one who gave the parcel to him.
Tamakloe upon arrest told the police that it was a man called Harry who gave the substance to him to post to the United Kingdom.
Speaking on Movement TV, Gordon Asare Bediako stated, “Dominic Ayine if he is not careful, I will say something today, you know Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, today I am daring Dr Dominic Ayine that Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe’s son who took drugs abroad and was arrested, how come he is out of prison”.
“I am saying it today quote me anywhere, Dr Dominic Ayine come and answer, come and tell Ghanaians how Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe’s son who was dealing in drugs was caught and was jailed at the Nsawam prison how on earth was he free I am daring you today come and tell the public”, he stated.
Gordon Asare Bediako further emphasised, “Come and tell the public, why are you behaving like that, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe’s son who was jailed for dealing drugs was released ahead of his time. Today come and organise a press conference and explain”.
Gordon Asare Bediako’s comments come following the Attorney General making a series of revelations into his investigation so far conducted by his office. The AG fingered the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) Kwabena Adu-Boahene for allegedly diverting over $7m into private accounts.
According to the Attorney General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene was arrested for financial misconduct relating to a $7 million cyber defence system contract.
The Attorney General further revealed Kwabena Adu-Boahene laundered state funds through real estate investments in Accra and abroad.
Dr Ayine disclosed, “In his capacity as Director of the National Signals Bureau, Mr Adu-Boahene on January 30, 2020, signed a contract on behalf of the government of Ghana and the National Security on one hand and the other hand, an Israeli company named RLC Holdings Limited.
The contract was for the purchase of a cyber defence system software at a price of $7 million.”
“On February 6, 2020, he then transferred an initial amount of GH¢27,100,000 from the National Signals Bureau account at Fidelity Bank to a private BNC account at UMB.
The Attorney General further added that Adu-Boahene and his wife purchased several landed properties in Ghana and abroad over the time that these monies hit their private accounts.
Moreover, Dr Dominic Ayine has also revealed that the former Chief Executive of the National Service Scheme (NSS) made a payment to a member of parliament to kill the story on the NSS ghost names scandal.
According to Dr Dominic Ayine, they now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by vendors.
Dr Ayine disclosed, “Indeed, we now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by vendors, private vendors, and staff of the scheme,” he stated.
“We also have evidence that in November 2024… the CEO of the National Service Scheme and others paid a Ghanaian MP to kill the story in the media, and to defend them. Now, this is a developing story, and more of it will come out very soon,” he added.
The Attorney General further revealed that the investigation will conclude in the National Service and Sky Train scandals by the middle of April.
“I can confirm that investigation will conclude in the National Service and Sky Train scandals by the middle of April for prosecutions to proceed”.
“In the National Service scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated, and a good number of them have started ‘singing’ literally. We will give you details of their songs at the appropriate time”, he said during a briefing.
