President John Dramani Mahama has called on police and the investigation organisations to speed up investigations into the murder of the former member of parliament for Abuakwa North MP JB Danquah and Tiger Eye PI member Ahmed Suale.
John Mahama made this remark when the Ghana Bar Association leader Efua Ghartey, on March 26, 2025, visited him.
John Mahama stated, “Investigations into significant killings and murders that have remained uninvestigated. I have urged the police and the investigation organisations to look more actively into such cases, like that of Ahmed Suale.
“That is why a first suspect has been arrested, and we are hoping that his interrogation will lead to further arrests of people. There are several other cases like the JB Danquah case. We are asking that they be expedited in terms of prosecution and investigations,” he stated.
Daniel Asiedu has been accused of killing former Abuakwa North MP JB Danquah.
The case dates back to 2016 when Asiedu was arrested in connection with the murder of the late MP.
Prosecutors allege that Asiedu robbed and fatally stabbed JB Danquah at his residence.
After undergoing psychiatric evaluation and being declared fit for trial, Asiedu’s plea was taken in February 2021, and the trial began the same year.
A seven-jury delivered a split decision of 4:3 not guilty, prompting the presiding judge, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, to discharge the jury in accordance with Section 285(4) of the Criminal and Other Offenses (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).
The court determined the verdict was inconclusive and insufficient for further action.
The retrial is expected to address lingering questions surrounding the case and seek a conclusive resolution to the high-profile murder trial.
Meanwhile, in the case of Ahmed Suale, a former associate of the late investigative journalist Ahmed Suale at Tiger Eye PI, Daniel Owusu Koranteng has been charged with murder and remanded.
Daniel Owusu Koranteng has been charged in connection to the death of Ahmed Suale and has been accused of causing the Ahmed Suale death.
The information gathered from the case details reveals, that Daniel Owusu Koranteng was near Suale’s residence in Madina before and during the time of the shooting.
According to reports, Owusu Koranteng left Madina that night to his home around 11 pm and evaded the Ghana Police Service invitation.
He later fled to the UK in 2019 and was arrested on March 15, 2025, after he returned to Ghana.
It has also been revealed that Ahmed Suale identified Daniel Owusu Koranteng as the individual who sold his picture to the former lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong.
The Madina District Court has since remanded Owusu Koranteng into custody and the case has been adjourned to April 1.
