Ghanaians on social media have descended on the Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the member of Parliament for Assin South after warned Ghanaian clergymen not to fall for President John Dramani Mahama’s rhetoric.
According to one of the netizens, John Ntim Fordjour should be ashamed of himself for not using his plenty of vocabs on the NPP government when former President Akufo-Addo refused to assent to the anti-LGBTQ bill.
The netizens noted that Ntim Fordjour as a man of God is dishonest, and the only useful thing he did about that previous bill was to be a sponsor.
According to the member of parliament, John Mahama will not sponsor any anti-LGBTQ bill.
His comments come after President John Dramani Mahama revealed that the Anti-LGBTQI bill would be introduced as a state-sponsored bill in parliament.
He announced that in consultation with the Speaker of Parliament, the anti-LGBT bill be reintroduced in Parliament as a Government-sponsored bill rather than a bill sponsored by private members.
According to President Mahama, as a Christian, he upholds the values that only two genders exist man and woman and that marriage is between a man and woman.
Speaking during his fellowship with the Clergy at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, February 28, 2025, he stated, “I as a Christian, uphold the values that only two genders exist as man and woman and that the marriage is between a man and woman.
“I have spoken with the Speaker so that a renewal of the expired Proper Family Values Bill should be a bill that is introduced by the government rather than as a private member motion”, he added.
President Mahama added, “It is my hope that that consultation will see a renewed proper Family Values Bill. I believe that my leadership should be a reflection of the people that I govern and upon this, I stand firm”.
Reacting to President Mahama’s comments during his fellowship with the Clergy at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), Ntim Fordjour noted that John Mahama in opposition promised to assent to the bill and is now running away from the same bill.
He wrote, “Eminent Clergy, please don’t fall for Mahama’s rhetoric. He WILL NOT sponsor any anti-LGBTQ bill – mark my words. If the President truly believes in the preservation of our cherished traditions, culture and norms, he must not turn his back on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2025, reintroduced into the 9th Parliament as a private members bill.
What has changed? The same President who promised to assent to the bill is now running away from the same bill”.

You are a man of God so I have tried to restrain myself from taking you on in certain respects! But I hate dishonest people especially one who is projecting Jesus. The only useful thing you did about that bill was being a sponsor, we don’t remember you advocating for it publicly

Bro, good morning. What was so wrong (the bill) for our president @NAkufoAddo refused to sign the bill. I’ve read those that took the case to the SC have withdrawn their case. Could we have used the same energy to have forced him? I like the renewed energy, don’t relent on it.

John Ntim Fordjour, you’ve always been against LGBTQ but never convinced @NAkufoAddo to assent the bill when he was in power. All he needed to do was to assent it but we saw all the shenanigans. Now that you’re out of power you say what. Let us think you hypocrite

Where did you get this energy for the anti-LGBTQ bill again? You started this fight nicely with Sam George and Co. only to chicken out when you realised your government was against it. Now that you’re out of government you seem to gather more strength again. Coward!

How can you spew such falsehood and misleading information. I have always supported the church in taking up governance roles but you have failed to demonstrate that leadership. I have observed your shameful media interactions lately.

Are u in anyway telling us Nana Addo doesn’t believe or respect our traditions, culture and norms since he basically refused to sign the bill into law ?Let it make sense as you’re an honorable member of parliament

The Ghanaian people are discerning, and information is readily accessible to everyone. It’s concerning when opinions are presented as facts. You could have urged your party to take the necessary steps, but instead, you chose silence.
WE SEE THROUGH YOU. 👀
