Paul Adom-Otchere, host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV has shockingly exposed an allegation of age forgery levelled against former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
According to Paul Adom Otchere a research group is accusing Dr George Akuffo Dampare of forging his age cutting off 7 years from it.
Paul Adom Otchere on his show detailed, “There is a research group that is bringing something up against Dampare, the research group and the Police were trying to facilitate Dampare’s speedy removal, it is untitled The Age of Akuffo Dampare, this document is not prepared by us we are reading it. We do not have any basis to say it is true or not, but it is for the public interest”.
According to the document Dr George Akuffo Dampare, completed Abuakwa State College in the Eastern region in 1987 at the age of 24, aligning with a birth year of 1963 rather than 1970.
Adom Otchere added, “ Apparently Dr Dampare is saying, that he was born in 1970 and this report is indicating that he was born in 1963, the allegation is for age forgery, the allegation here is that Dampare has forged his age on top of taking pictures with children.
The document further noted that the former IGP struggled with week O’ Level results, however Adom Octhere noted that is not an issue as many also struggled with it.
The information from the document further alleged that IGP Dampare entered the Ghana Police Service in December 1990 at the age of 27 years old after his prior attempts of 1988 and in 1989 he was disqualified on the grounds of exceeding the age limit of 25 years.
Adom emphasized, “The question is how was he disqualified at the age of 25 and was allowed in at the age of 27 that is the reasonable answer.
The broadcaster further accused that former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, of paying thousands of dollars to two high-ranking officials at Jubilee House in a last-minute attempt to secure his position.
According to Adom-Otchere, one Listowell is claimed to have confronted these officials at Jubilee House about the alleged bribery incident.
He alleged that Listowell quizzed the two high-profile officials on why they accepted the payment, despite knowing that IGP Dampare was going to be sacked by President Mahama.
Adom-Otchere claimed, “So, there is a guy called Listowel who went to Jubilee House and asked why high-profile officials were allegedly receiving presents from Akuffo Dampare just 72 hours before his dismissal.
These presents were reportedly delivered to two top-ranking officials. I won’t mention their names, but two high-profile officials at Jubilee House allegedly received money from Akuffo Dampare just days and hours before his removal as IGP.
Where is Dr Dampare getting the money from? Two high-profile officials at Jubilee House, not Felix Kwakye Ofosu, but two others, have allegedly received thousands of dollars from Dr Akuffo Dampare in an attempt to save his position”, he added.
Adom Otchere further boldly claimed that Listowel questioned the officials saying, “Why are you receiving these payments when you know you intend to sack him?”
In a statement by the Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President, in accordance with the Constitution and the Council of State, made the appointment.
“President John Dramani Mahama has in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector-General of Police. He replaces COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare”.
“COP Yohuno brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernization and transformation of the Ghana Police Service,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, March 14, at the Jubilee House has sworn in COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
