Heavily armed National Security Operatives, led by their Director of Special Operations, Richard Jakpa have raided the Roman Ridge residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.
The raid is said to have happened on the dawn of Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
According to a report by Asaase Radio, the operatives, numbering about 20, arrived in three vehicles, some wearing balaclavas and carrying AK-47 rifles.
The armed men are said to have disabled CCTV camera in the house to prevent any recordings from reaching the media and ordered Dr. Addison to lead them to a supposed vaults tucked away in secret in his home.
Despite denying having such vaults in the house, the operatives who doubted him ransacked the house but came up empty handed.
After an extensive search, the operatives confiscated the CCTV monitor and control unit before seizing four of Dr. Addison’s vehicles, including his Toyota Lexus and Mercedes Benz, and driving them to an undisclosed location.
The men are said to have been led by the Director of Special Operations at the National Security, Richard Jakpa.
This marks the second high-profile operation since President John Mahama’s administration took office on January 7, 2025.
The first home to be ransacked was that of the former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
His home was raided when he was away receiving treatment abroad.
This raid has received national condemnation from Ghanaians, urging National Security Operatives to execute their mandate through the due process.
