A broadcaster with Kessben TV and radio has revealed that the former member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sara Adwoa Safo has been ambushed by some New Patriotic Party hierarchy.
According to the Kessben broadcaster, Adwoa Safo has been stopped from leaving her home after she was scheduled to have an interview with them.
The broadcaster revealed that three V8 cars stopped Adwoa Safo at her gate while she was about to leave her home for their studio.
Speaking on Kessben TV and radio the broadcaster narrated, “When Adwoa Safo was ready, to leave her home to the studio for her interview, in fact, she was already in her car and was ambushed at her gate by some 3 V8 cars, they stated they were not going to allow her to leave home.
When the people got down it was some NPP bigwigs, the party hierarchies were the ones stopping her from coming out.
Our reporters are there, and we will be speaking to him shortly from the home of Adwoa Safo. As we speak to you the party hierarchy has blocked her way saying they are not going to let her out”, he stated.
He further added, “ Adwoa Safo has already done a lot of interviews but here was the headquarters, she coming here was a problem for the NPP, and the critical questions we were going to ask them were a problem for the NPP”.
Adwoa Safo was also scheduled to speak with GHONE TV today, the media house issued a statement to the public through their social media accounts saying, “We are sorry to announce that our scheduled interview with former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo has been postponed. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused”.
Adwoa Safo has in the last few days been on a media rampage ranting about her long-endured unfair treatment.
Sarah Adwoa Safo cried out that there was a character assassination against her.
According to Adwoa Safo, there was a need for her to set the records straight and nobody should tell her that she was discussing party issues on TV or Radio.
She asserted that things that were said against her are now stuck in the minds of many Ghanaians and she had been branded in a way.
Speaking in an interview with JOYNEWS, Adwoa Safo narrated, “There was a character assassination, and there was the need to set the record straight nobody should tell me that I am discussing party issues on TV, or radio so I should stop. Reputation is everything that anybody has got things that we said, things that we did and said about me are stuck in the minds of Ghanaians.
I have been branded the way I am not supposed to be branded and I owe it to myself to clear it up, to let Ghanaians know my side of the story, and that is not selling my party”.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dragged the former member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee over her media ranting.
In a statement on Thursday, March 20, Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the Party emphasized the need for calm and unity among members, citing the party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5), which mandates coordination of party activities.
“Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” the statement read.
In a follow-up statement the same day March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong stated that Adwoa Safo’s rants defy the NPP directives.
The statement stated, “As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms. Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermine the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.
“As a former Member of Parliament, Former Deputy Majority Leader, and Former Minister of State under the erstwhile NPP government, she was expected to set a good example and adhere to the principles of discipline, loyalty and unity that have always defined our great party.
“Her failure to do so not only reflects poorly on her but also in contravention of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which, among others enjoins us to promote ar.d defend the good name of the Party.
“In breach of the above provision of the Party’s constitution and the directives issued earlier, Hon Sarah Adwoa Sarfo is hereby referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the Party for rusher action”, the statement added.
