Kwame Anokye Frimpong revealed he studied Political Science under Prof Mike Oquaye and the class were frequent misunderstandings in his class due to Mike Oquaye twisting the politics in Ghana with lies.

According to Kwame Anokye Frimpong, if Kwame Nkrumah built the Tema Harbour, Mike Oquaaye would come to class and tell them that it wasn’t Nkrumah but the British who built it for him to inherit.

Speaking on Onua TV, Kwame Anokye Frimpong narrated, “He taught me political science. At the time, he was Dr Mike Oquaye, and there was always misunderstanding in his class because his subject was politics in Ghana, he twisted the politics in Ghana with lies. If Nkrumah built the Tema Harbour, he would tell us that it wasn’t Nkrumah but the British who built it for him to inherit”.

“The £100 that was used to bring Nkrumah to Ghana was given by Paa Grant, but Mike Oquaye would lie to us that it was JB Danquah, even though Danquah was a lawyer who didn’t have that kind of money. What I am saying is 1989, I was in my second year doing his subject, earlier on in 1879, when I was 16 years old, I read The Challenge of Our Time, which shows that at 89 my mind was not small”, he added.

He continue, “When we were kids, the rich in the community, weren’t they the ones that built teams for the youths, when they set up the team who buys the ball isn’t it the rich man who bought the ball? Then you say the players should go and buy the ball. When Paa Grant was setting up the party, the whole of West Africa he was the leading Timber merchant and if we were going to bring the General Secretary from abroad, why will it be a party member use his money to buy the ticket?

Mike Oquaye could lie and he would be challenged in the class and he would run away, I am saying I was his student and I also met him at the Law School when he was coming to do law. I know Mike Oquaye very well he doesn’t like Nkrumah, but that is not the problem, it is like how I don’t like Kotoka”, he added.

Kwame Anokye Frimpong further revealed Kwame Nkrumah did not like JB Danquah but he acknowledged his work when he was opening the Institute of African Studies.

He added, “Kwame Nkrumah did not like JB Danquah but when he was opening the Institute of African Studies he told the centre if they were going to research deeply they needed two black men’s writings,  he mentioned Professor William Amo the first black scholar and he mentioned JB Danquah he wrote the Akan Concept of God telling the white they did not introduce God to us.

Nkrumah read that book and why is it that you Mike Oquaye when you see one plus one because of Nkrumah you will say four all because of the name Kwame Nkrumah? I am happy that he is not dead and still alive listening to us. He is a very dishonest scholar if it was somewhere abroad he would be stripped of his professorship. Mike Oquaye you are a liar I am telling you”, the historian boldly stated.

They lie about the truth. It’s their stock in trade.
By the way, JB Danquah’s first published work was “Akan Laws and Customs and the Akim Abuakwa Constitution” in 1928. Watch something…
