Speaking at a credential ceremony for newly appointed ambassadors, he explained that Ghana faces significant challenges in its healthcare system.

He noted that the previous government initiated a healthcare project to build over a hundred hospitals, but despite the large financial investment, none of the hospitals were operationalized.

“With regards to healthcare, 1 would like to see what the cooperation is. We do have a problem with our hospital facilities, the previous government started a huge project in healthcare, building more than 100 hospitals, and somehow we’re stuck because they spent a lot of money and not been able to operationalize any of them,” he said.

Mr. Mahama emphasized that his administration is committed to completing these projects. He expressed interest in partnering with the private sector or any entrepreneur involved in healthcare and hospital management to finish and operate these hospitals over time.

He further stated that this opportunity would be open to entrepreneurs willing to collaborate with his government, aiming to enhance the country’s healthcare sector.

“And so we’re looking to see if we can have some cooperation with the private sector or any entrepreneurs that are into hospital management to finish those hospitals and manage them over a period of time, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service,” he added.
