Dr Dominic Ayine the Attorney General has revealed that only a hard drive was taken from the home of the former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Ernest Addison.
According to the Attorney General those saying that they went and took CCTV cameras are mistaking.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Dr Ayine revealed. “Regarding the CCTV cameras that were taken, the cameras were actually not taken. It was the hard drive of the CCTV, and every investigator knows that the hard drive is what stores, it is the memory, it is the brain box of the CCTV camera”.
“The camera itself is just a mechanism for transmitting images or getting the images. But when it obtains the images, they are then stored in the hard drive,” Dr Ayine said.
“It was the hard drive we took or the National Security who went to his house took. So those who are saying that we went and took CCTV cameras are mistaking, and they are being mischievous in whatever they are doing with that information”, he clarified.
Dr Dominic Ayine the Attorney General has insisted that there was no raid on the house of the former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Ernest Addison.
According to the Attorney General, a warrant was obtained and there was nothing illegal or unconstitutional about what they did.
He further revealed that if the media wants to see the warrant he could make it possible.
Reports emerged last week that the director of special operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa has led about 20 armed men to raid the home of former BoG Governor Ernest Addison.
According to reports, the raid occurred on Wednesday 19 March 2025 at around 5 am at Ernest Addison’s home in Accra.
The information gathered suggests Dr Addison was home when Richard Jakpa and his 20 armed men wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles raided his property.
The National Security immediately disabled the CCTV system at the property and demanded Dr Addison lead them to the vaults in his house.
Dr Addison later revealed he had no vaults or cache of cash at home.
The information gathered also suggests the National Security operatives later allegedly ransacked the house with no vault being found and no large amounts of cash were found.
Dr Ayine added, “There are limits to what you can do by saying that your house should not be searched. So we obtained warrants, and if the media wants, I can make those warrants available.
There was no raid on his house, and there was nothing illegal or unconstitutional about what we did … It was a constitutionally sanctioned search,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Security Analyst Col Festus Aboagye (rtd) has exposed the former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Ernest Addison for allegedly spying on Bank of Ghana (BoG) staff and activities.
According to Col Festus Aboagye, the state received intelligence that Dr Ernest Addison had wired his place with what we call backdoor electronic devices.
He revealed that the former BoG governor had devices in his house, wired to the Bank of Ghana, which enabled him to spy on BoG staff and activities.
His comment comes after reports emerged some days ago that the director of special operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa has led about 20 armed men to raid the home of former BoG Governor Ernest Addison.
Speaking on TV3 on Saturday, March 22, 2025, Col. Aboagye (rtd) detailed, “What is coming out, unless contested, is that there was intelligence I’m speaking on what I have checked that former Governor Addison when I got social information and checked from a source within National Security, certain individuals within National Security, had wired his place with what we call backdoor electronic devices”.
“He had devices in his house, wired to the Bank of Ghana, which enabled him to monitor what was going on. Monitoring is a very diplomatic word; this is spying, this is surveillance”, he added.
