Social media users have trolled Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak after he made a donation to the Ghana Prisons Service on behalf of brother of Ghana’s President and businessman, Ibrahim Mahama.

Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has donated several food items to the Ghana Prisons Service on behalf of renowned businessman and philanthropist, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama.

The donation aimed to support inmates feeding during the Ramadan season was received at the Prisons Headquarters. It included 1000 bags of rice, 417 boxes of cooking oil, 200 boxes of mackerel, and 300 boxes of tin tomatoes.

These items will be distributed to ten prisons across the country, namely Nsawam, Ankaful, Kumasi Amanfrom, Kumasi Central, Kumasi Manhyia, Sekondi, Koforidua, Tamale, and Sunyani prisons.

During the presentation, Hon. Muntaka reaffirmed Government’s commitment to resourcing, retooling, and improving the conditions of Officers of the Service and inmates of the various prisons.

The Director-General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, received the items on behalf of the service and expressed gratitude to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for his generosity.

A social media identified as @MrIrish3 reacting to the donation wrote, “Muntaka, the interior minister has been turned into an errand boy by the brother of the president, Ibrahim Mahama.” 

This post on X has generated a lot of conversations with some supporting @MrIrish3 while others see nothing wrong with the move.
