The majority leader Mahama Ayariga has cut the minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin into sizes on the floor of parliament.
According to Mahama Ayariga, Alexander Afenyo-Markin must learn to behave properly in the chamber.
The majority leader’s comments come as Afenyo Markin described the NDC-led government by President John Dramani Mahama as a talk-talk government.
Afenyo Markin noted that the NDC say something one thing and do another thing, he further stated that the Mahama government has failed to keep his promises.
Speaking on the floor of parliament Afenyo Markin stated, “Mr Speaker don’t let us go there, don’t lead yourself into temptation, the same thing with their big push we should, they should give us proper assurances, they say one thing and do another, it only talk talk government.
They say women’s banking only gave 51 million. They don’t keep their promises, I want to know from the Minister of Finance”, he added.
Mahama Ayariga reacting to Afenyo Markin warned him it should be the last time he will stand and talk as if he is more than anybody in the chamber.
The majority leader stated, “Mr Speaker, the minority leader should learn to behave properly in this chamber.
This is a government that keeps its promises, so you cannot stand here and just throw your fingers and then point as at and say we don’t keep our promises, the budget has just been brought, and we have not even yet considered it, we have not yet approved it, for us to implement our promises”.
He added, “You cannot always stand up and talk as if you are more than anybody in this chamber make this your last time”.
Mahama Ayariga further jabbed Afenyo Markin for never being a minister after he had laboured for the New Patriotic Party for so many years.
Mahama Ayariga stated, “ Mr Speaker, I thought that the minority leader has stayed long enough in this house, to understand the processes of this house, because Mr Speaker, the order of business make provision for a message from the president, when there is a message from the president.
There is no message from the president if he is desirous of a message he should tell us, Mr Speaker, if he wants an appointment from the President he should come and tell me privately.
I know he has never been a minister, and when his government was in power they never considered him for a minister, he laboured for them for years they never considered they never made him a minister and I think that his inability to become a minister has become a problem.
Meanwhile, the majority leader and minority leader have been in the news recently after Alexander Afenyo-Markin revived calls for the establishment of a new Parliamentary chamber and the building of members of parliament hospital.
Mahama Ayariga, rejected the proposal by the Minority Leader, citing the current financial crisis of the state as the reason.
