Isaac Adongo, the Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament has replied to the former finance minister Amin Adam after he labelled President John Dramani Mahama a “Terminator”.
According to Isaac Adongo, President John Dramani Mahama is indeed a terminator of waste, corruption and recklessness.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has named President John Dramani Mahama as “Terminator” following the government’s decision to terminate the appointment of all public sector employees employed after December 7, 2024.
In a press conference on Monday, March 3, former Minister for Finance Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam accused the Mahama administration of deliberately sacking employees to create vacancies for party loyalists.
According to him, the NDC and Mahama have no creative ideas to create jobs for Ghanaians and only use the tactics of dismissal to create job opportunities for their cronies.
Dr Amin Adam stated that it has become a well-known fact that Mahama’s government is terminating the jobs of properly employed young Ghanaians under the guise of job creation.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is now a notorious fact that to create vacancies for the purpose of employing NDC youth, the Mahama administration has sacked thousands of young Ghanaians who had been properly employed by the previous administration,” he asserted.
He further criticised the approach, arguing that replacing dismissed workers with new employees does not qualify as job creation.
“The termination of the jobs of young Ghanaians, which has become synonymous with President Mahama—‘Terminator 1’—is a sign of what is yet to come. Sacking people from employment and replacing them later with others does not amount to job creation,” he remarked.
Reacting to the NPP press conference on GHONE TV Isaac Adongo stated, “Yes, Mahama is a terminator—but a terminator of waste, a terminator of corruption, and a terminator of recklessness!”.
“He has already terminated private jet rentals, cathedral corruption, and reckless borrowing. “He is the Terminator of defaulting on payments and declaring bankruptcy”, he added.
Isaac Adongo further revealed the NDC government will employ more than those who have been sent home.
He added, “Some people are crying about job losses, but we need to ask: Were those jobs even legitimate? If the people who were sacked were properly employed, then yes, we will end up employing more than those who were asked to go home, because their appointments were irregular”.
“You don’t just wake up one day and say, ‘Let’s employ people’ when there is no budget to pay them!”, he explained.
According to Isaac Adongo Ghana’s problem is not about Job termination but a fiscal crisis.
“The biggest problem wasn’t just about job terminations—it was a fiscal crisis! If terminating useless spending is a crime, then call Mahama The Terminator,” Adongo boldly reiterated.
