A netizen has reacted to the news of Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah being arrested and subsequently released after he was picked up by some National security operatives.
The netizen noted that after National Security picked up Okatakyie Afrifa the entire New Patriotic Party (NPP) machinery abandoned Kennedy Agyapong.
Kennedy Agyapong earlier yesterday 19 March 2025 was the topic of discussion by many Ghanaians after news broke that a Superior Court of New Jersey in the United States of America awarded investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas $18 million in his defamation suit against him and Social media commentator Frederick Asamoah.
The court documents highlighted several specific allegations Kennedy Agyapoang made against Anas, falsely claiming that Anas had been convicted of crimes in Ghana, and accusing Anas of orchestrating Ahmed Suale’s murder. Asserting that Anas was responsible for the deaths of multiple Chinese nationals in Ghana and labelling Anas as a thief.
Later that day in the evening news broke that Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah the host of FOR THE RECORDS”, was arrested on Wednesday 19 March 2025.
However, it is unclear why he was arrested.
Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah’s arrest led to a widespread outrage with many calling for his immediate release.

The NPP has also condemned his arrest and labelled it a direct attack on democracy and press freedom.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reacted to his arrest calling for tolerance and warning against the intimidation of government critics.
“It started with Abronye. Now it’s Okatakyie Afrifa. The NDC government must be tolerant. Using State Security to intimidate opponents is not good for our democracy!” he stated.
General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua stated, “The arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah by the NDC government is a dangerous attack on democracy and freedom of speech! Ghana must not descend into tyranny,”

According to Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, he has been informed that national security operatives descended upon the airport, searching for him.
