Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso and former deputy Finance Minister, Dr Stephen Amoah has revealed his remarks about calling for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be dissolved was a spur-of-the-moment.
According to Stephen Amoah, if the NDC collapses Ghana will become a one-party state and no one wants that.
He asserted that should any of the two leading parties in Ghana collapse for a long time Ghana will be destroyed.
Speaking on UTV Stephen Amoah stated, “Honestly, I said in it playingly, I am fine with them, how can you dissolve such a big fraternity, if the NDC collapse the NPP will become a one-party state. Ghana will become a one-party state. For that one no one wants it.
I am a Kotoko supporter but I would not like Accra Heart of Oak to go to relegation that means you do not love Ghana. Because if Hearts go to relegation there won’t be any football that will help Ghana. I am not saying the others are not big, but the two are the leading”.
He further added, “So NPP and NDC any of them that will collapse we will have a one-party state for a long time it will destroy the country. Yesterday I just spiced it”.
Meanwhile, in parliament yesterday 18 March 2025, Stephen Amoah called for NDC to be dissolved.
Speaking on the floor of parliament a heated-up Stephen Amoah stated, “Sometimes I want to ask you no one wants to tell you, are you truly a social democrat? Or Capitalistic in nature because you can’t do pro-poor policies you cannot manage economic indicators so what are you, I want to know, just as I think Peter asked Jesus who are you?”
“What are you, are you socialistic you are always branding around propaganda only lies and deceptions”, he asked the NDC.
The member of parliament added, “Mr Speaker name all the pro-poor policies in our country both in cash and in-kind any pro-poor policy of National tenacity and international reputation you cannot dip your hand in it, even in this august House when we were passing National Health Insurance you ran away only for you to come back and say you started it.
When it was Roman Catholics that started it in a pilot project in Nkoranza and Techiman every day is about propaganda. We were doing Free SHS you spoke against it, you insulted us, when you realised that Ghanaians were buying into it, you said we want to do it incrementally they only added 25 million that year to the education budget”, he added.
“The fact is NDC has to be dissolved, you have to be dissolved it is not about numbers, you have to be dissolved because we are talking about quality numbers see our numbers are small but quality, quality mighty minority”, Stephen Amoah emphasised.
Additionally, Dr Stephen Amoah says Ghanaians are saddened and regret voting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of power.
According to him, the citizens wish they could take back their decision to vote the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to office.
He revealed that after conducting research and gathering primary data from 31 NDC Members of Parliament, he found that they all offered different interpretations of the same policy. Dr Amoah emphasized that the NDC administration seems to have no clear understanding of the very policy they vowed to implement.
“Let’s come to something they call the 24-hour economy, I’ve conducted my own research and collected primary data. I’ve asked 31 NDC MPs and they all give different definitions, one policy infinite definition.”
“The fact is the NDC guys do not sit to analyze things before they come out. What is the 24-hour economy? They have no idea of what they want to do,” he said on the floor of parliament.
He stated that Ghanaians have deeply regretted their choice in electing the NDC into power.
“Ghanaians are tired of the NDC and have regretted voting for them. If you don’t know let me tell you, Ghanaians have regretted and are saddened, Ghanaians are crying,” he reiterated.
