According to the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, the National Democratic Congress’ government hasn’t fulfilled their promises and they will be voted out if Ghanaians get the chance to vote now.

Afenyo-Markin made this comment while reacting to Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga’s statement that the NDC has fulfilled their promises to Ghanaians so far.

“You have not fulfilled your promises to Ghanaians. So many of the promises have not been fulfilled so what is the majority leader saying? If elections are held today the NDC will lose.”

Afenyo-Markin also dared the president and the NDC to organize a fresh election if they believe in the work they have done in government so far.

“If the NDC believes they have fulfilled their promises they should tell the president to organize an election today and they will see what will happen,” he added.

The December 7, 2024 elections saw 12 candidates contest to be president of Ghana. The contest was however primarily between former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

John Mahama won the contest decisively with 56.55% of total votes cast, with Dr. Bawumia conceding defeat the day after the polls closed.

The NDC won an overwhelming majority in parliament, securing 183 seats while the NPP won 88 seats and independent candidates won 4 seats.

One seat however remains in contention
