Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has broken his silence on her latest arrest by the Ghana Police Cyber Crime Unit.
News surfaced yesterday that Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has been arrested by the Ghana Police Cyber Crime Unit.
According to an eyewitness report, the Cyber Crime Unit of the Police seized mobile phones belonging to the host of FOR THE RECORDS and later took him to his home to conduct a thorough search
According to Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, he was framed by his ex-girlfriend who claimed he had her nudes and was blackmailing her.
He further claimed the lady edited their chat to suit her objectives before reporting him to the cybercrime office.
Speaking on his show For The Records, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah stated, “I was told that Andeli reported me and said I have her nudes and I am blackmailing her with them. I told them to bring evidence and so they took me home and took what they wanted and said they were going to investigate me. I dated this lady six years ago, so I won’t talk about how toxic she is.
However, I picked intel that they have a dossier on her and so she should be careful. She edited the messages I shared with her for it to look as though I was saying I had her nude videos,” he added.
Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, however alleged his arrest was political and not just about his ex-girlfriend Anne Sansa Daly.
Meanwhile, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah the host of FOR THE RECORDS”, was arrested on Wednesday 19 March 2025. However, it is unclear why he was arrested.
Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah’s arrest led to a widespread outrage with many calling for his immediate release.
The NPP has condemned his arrest and labelled it a direct attack on democracy and press freedom.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reacted to his arrest calling for tolerance and warning against the intimidation of government critics.
“It started with Abronye. Now it’s Okatakyie Afrifa. The NDC government must be tolerant. Using State Security to intimidate opponents is not good for our democracy!” he stated.
General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua stated, “The arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah by the NDC government is a dangerous attack on democracy and freedom of speech! Ghana must not descend into tyranny,”
