The lead Convener of the FixTheCountry and Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has tackled the outgoing Inspector General of Police(IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare’s undoing.
According to Vormawor, he has never seen a more dishonest bible touting individual like Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
Oliver revealed that the IGP is a liar and has never seen a more dishonest bible touting individual and second only to the former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
In a statement by the Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President, in accordance with the Constitution and the Council of State, made the appointment.
“President John Dramani Mahama has in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 constitution and consultation with the Council of State, appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector-General of Police. He replaces COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare”.
“COP Yohuno brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernization and transformation of the Ghana Police Service,” the statement said.
Reacting to the presidency statement, Oliver Vormawor took to his social media page on X and stated, “His lies! I have never seen a more dishonest bible touting individual. He comes second only to Ofori-Atta for me. Despite this, he went ahead curating PR events of babies kissing his hand and creating such a PR driven service to mask his extreme dishonesty.
His total disregard for other Senior Police hierarchy. He had his own click and camp. Those he liked he kept close. Those who he didn’t like felt it paa. He was petty, vindictive and just an extremely insecure man!
I say Good Riddance. The Man must rest for New Blood to learn from where he failed! Shalom”, his statement added.
He further lamented the Democracy Hub and protesters ordeal with the Police under the former IGP, “ The way he oversaw the brutal treatment of Democracy Hub protestors, from #OccupyJulorbiHouse to #StopGalamseyProtest. This includes way he set his sights on me, doing almost everything in his power to use the police force against me and our other convenors.
I believe in that he was extremely used by the former regime. He was their lapdog and he delivered!
The way he empowered some criminal elements within the Police PID; who committed crimes and had absolutely zero regard for due process, human life or justice. The committed crimes that even Duterte who is before The Hague for crimes against humanity will be shy to imagine. Everyone I know in the police hierarchy and rank and file were complaining about the abuses of the PID guys. But everyone treated them as untouchables because they were Damapre’s own terror squad”, he added.
Additionally, Paul Adom-Otchere, host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, has accused that former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, of paying thousands of dollars to two high-ranking officials at Jubilee House in a last-minute attempt to secure his position.
Speaking on his Good Evening Ghana show on March 13, 2025, Adom-Otchere claimed, “So, there is a guy called Listowel who went to Jubilee House and asked why high-profile officials were allegedly receiving presents from Akuffo Dampare just 72 hours before his dismissal.
These presents were reportedly delivered to two top-ranking officials. I won’t mention their names, but two high-profile officials at Jubilee House allegedly received money from Akuffo Dampare just days and hours before his removal as IGP.
Where is Dr Dampare getting the money from? Two high-profile officials at Jubilee House, not Felix Kwakye Ofosu, but two others, have allegedly received thousands of dollars from Dr Akuffo Dampare in an attempt to save his position”, he added.
The special aide to President John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has also revealed why the President sacked the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
According to Joyce Bawa Mogtari, President Mahama had to appoint a person loyal to him, especially when it comes to the safety and security of the country.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, March 14, at the Jubilee House has sworn in COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
