Kevin Taylor a US-based vlogger has boldly declared the Hajj Village will be built to glorify Allah.
President John Dramani Mahama cut sod for the construction of a new Hajj Village.
The landmark project aimed at improving facilities for Ghanaian pilgrims embarking on the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.
A vision that began under the late President John Evans Atta Mills. The initiative continues the commitment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to enhancing the welfare of Muslim pilgrims.
However, there have been misconceptions regarding the funding and purpose of the Hajj Village project.
Many Ghanaians have compared the project to former President Akufo-Addo’s infamous National Cathedral project.
Kevin Taylor in a post on social media page X wrote, “The hajj village will be built to glorify Allah end of announcement”.
A netizen under Kevin Taylor’s post described him as a Hypocrite for condemning the National Cathedral project even though it was going to be funded outside of state funds.
He wrote, “Hypocrites..even when the cathedral was going to be funded outside of state funds..all condemned it. We only know economic crisis when it’s party A but when it’s party B..we claim, its not state funds, so no schools under trees, zongos, deplorable hospitals, hardship or crisis exist”.
Kevin Taylor replied to the netizen saying, “Airport company will not waste money on Christmas tree they will spend it on a hajj village please if you don’t understand the Kole lagoon is very close you can do the needful”.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the minister of State for Government Communication has revealed that taxpayers’ money will not be used in the construction of the Hajj Village project.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, not a pesewa of taxpayers’ money will be involved in the Hajj Village.
In a post on his official X page, Felix Kwakye Ofosu revealed that the Hajj Village is an airport terminal building which is designed to facilitate the check-in and processing of pilgrims embarking on the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
He wrote on X, “The Hajj Village is primarily an Airport Terminal Building for check-in and pilgrim facilitation owned and being built by the Ghana Airport Company.
Not a pesewa of taxpayers’ money involved”, he added.
Felix Kwaye Ofosu in another post descended heavily on NPP trying to claim the Hajj Village as their project.
He further wrote, Here is the NPP claiming only last week, to have started the Hajj Village. Today, they say they are angry because the same Hajj Village is being built”.
“The Ghana Airport Company develops and manages Air Travel facilities for profit. The Hajj Village is one such facility”, his post added.
