There have been reports of President John Dramani Mahama planning to give an appointment to Ghanaian socialite Hajia Bintu.
According to the reports, the Mahama administration is seeking to appoint Hajia Bintu into the diplomatic corps.
Hajia Bintu is said to be penciled for appointment as a peace ambassador.
This news has sent shockwaves through the Ghanaian community, with many questioning the academic qualifications of Hajia Bintu to be appointed into such a critical role.
This news comes a few days after news broke about media personality and actress, Joselyn Dumas being appointed as the Deputy Director for Diaspora Affairs under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Her new role will see her assisting Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), who was appointed as the Director of Diaspora Affairs a week before. KOD’s appointment was confirmed by Obuobia Darko-Opoku in a Facebook post on February 26, 2025.
After assuming officer on January 7, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama has made key appointments in the creative arts industry.
So far, five renowned entertainment personalities from both the movie and music space have been appointed by President Mahama to serve in his administration.
Ghanaian actress and scriptwriter, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has been named Minister of Tourism, Culture and creative Arts. She assumes this role with over four (4) decades of experience in the movie industry.
John Dumelo, an actor has been appointed and approved as the Deputy Minister for Agriculture.
Media personality and tourism advocate, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey ‘Santana’ has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority. His appointment was announced by the presidency on February 26, 2025.
Veteran highlife artiste, Rex Omar has also been appointed to the role of Presidential Staffer to coordinate the ‘Black Star Experience’.
Actor James Gardiner has also been appointed Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority.
