21-year-old Mohammed Huzeinu the pitch invader during Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025, has been jailed.
An Accra District Court has sentenced Mohammed Huzeinu to 100 days in prison.
According to reports, Mohammed Huzeinu invading the pitch during Ghana’s World Cup qualifier could have financial implications for the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The information gathered suggests international football governing bodies impose fines of at least $10,000 for such security breaches.
Huzeinu during the game ran onto the pitch in an attempt to embrace Black Stars striker Antoine Semenyo.
He was arrested and held at the Ministries Police Station before facing trial.
Reports suggest this is the fifth pitch invasion at a Black Stars match in the past five years, raising growing concerns about stadium security.
The Football authorities claim Huzeinu’s sentencing will serve as a deterrent to other fans to maintain order and protect Ghana’s reputation in international football.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has repeated its stance against pitch invasions, highlighting the need for discipline and adherence to match-day protocols.
