The former member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sara Adwoa Safo has boldly bragged that Dome Kwabenya is her, and she is Dome Kwabenya.
Sara Adwoa Safo is quoted by UTV to have said, “ Dome Kwabenya is Adwoa Safo, and Adwoa Safo is Dome Kwabenya. That’s the reality. Period!”.
Sara Adwoa Safo after losing the NPP primaries to Mike Oquaye Jnr revealed, “I didn’t want that conflict, and I chose my words carefully when I lost. I was clear: I’m going to be with Dr. Bawumia and support other constituencies where I can,”
However, the former MP didn’t shy away from acknowledging the crucial factors that influenced the election.
“We had indicators coming from surveys, and my father and the church play a huge role in this constituency,” Safo noted, suggesting that a deeper look into the role of these influential factors could help the party regain control of the seat in the future.
Adwoa Safo in a recent interview revealed that Mike Oquaye Junior during the campaign period never visited any of the Christo Asafo churches but claimed the people of Kristo Asafo did not vote.
She revealed that the new member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu visited the church four times.
She added, “Mike Oquaye Junior never visited any of our churches Akurugu came there four times, that is where the man himself is, and we have three more branches, Mike Oquauye Junior never stepped there.
During the Christmas period, this man was doing a Technological exhibition, the NDC lady I don’t know her and I do not care about care, but she knew that if she was going to make it or not she had to respect the elders”.
The former MP added, “She came to church four times, during the Technological convention this woman came there with an NDC scarf on her head. Then you Oquaye will go and tell party leaders that I brought the woman to my father’s convention when I was fighting for the position as an MP, I visited the Mosque, I went to Makers House Chapel, I even went to Isreal King of Jews”.
The Electoral Commission (EC) officially declared Faustina Elikplim Akurugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Dome Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region, following the December 7 election.
The declaration follows a dispute between the two major parties, the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), over the winner of the contest.
Ballot papers in the Dome Kwabenya constituency were reportedly set on fire, according to reports, the ballot papers were burnt after they were intercepted on their way to the collation centre.
The Dome Kwabenya seat has traditionally been a stronghold of the NPP.
The NPP candidate, Mike Oquaye Jr, garnered 50,669 votes, while Faustina Akurugu of the NDC secured 50,967 votes.
Meanwhile, Sara Adwoa Safo has boldly told Professor Mike Oquaye to tell the New Patriotic Party members why his son lost the Dome-Kwabenya seat in the 2024 election.
She asserted that Professor Mike Oquaye is writing a report on the NPP’s miserable defeat in the 2024 elections.
According to Adwoa Safo, before they believe Professor Mike Oquaye’s report he must first tell them why his son lost the Dome-Kwabenya seat to the NDC.
