Collins Adomako-Mensah, a member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North has quizzed if the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin did not hear Murtala Muhammed call the late JB Danquah a CIA Agent and a traitor.
According to Collins Adomako-Mensah, he is peeved at the Speaker’s selective justice.
He admitted that the “Daughter of a murderer”, comments came from the minority side of parliament.
He asserted that Speaker Bagbin was in parliament when Murtala Mohammed referred to JB Danquah as a CIA agent and a traitor and was also in parliament when some NDC MPs came along with placards describing a former MP as a bloody window.
The member of parliament’s reaction comes as Alban Bagbin ordered a formal investigation to identify the member of parliament who referred to Klottey Korle MP, Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings a ‘daughter of a murderer on the floor of parliament.
According to Alban Bagbin, the member of parliament if found guilty could face a suspension not exceeding 9 months or expelled from parliament.
Alban Bagbin further advised the member of parliament responsible to within a week show honesty and plead guilty rather than wait for the outcome of the investigation.
Reacting to Speaker Bagbin’s directives Collins Adomako-Mensah fired shots at Alban Bagbin for being discriminatory in enforcing punishments.
Speaking on Peace FM, Collins Adomako-Mensah stated, “I am angry, I just have to control my temper, we have huge respect for the Speaker, he is the speaker of the House, and he is the embodiment of parliament so when we step outside we aim to protect the sanctity of the institution of parliament. The speaker is saying he has given who one week, the same day Murtala Mohammed referred to JB Danquah as a CIA agent and a traitor. As for that one, the speaker did not hear of it.
The bloody window has children, the same Speaker Bagbin was the speaker then, we had women from the NDC side who stood up to defend this statement, he did not give anyone an ultimatum, Lydia Seyiram is there no blood in her? She does not have traditional leaders in her hometown is that it?
In a commemorative statement on the floor of parliament, the MP for Abuakwa made a statement about the response from NDC, led by Murtala said he was a traitor, a CIA agent for that one no had said he should apologize”, he stated.
Collins Adomako further detailed, “You don’t have to be discriminatory in your punishment, I don’t support calling the lady the daughter of a murderer, it is the same way I don’t support Bloody Window, but you being the speaker if you are punishing punish everybody. Somebody whose husband is dead, with whom he had children, you come to parliament raising placards telling her bloody window, for that one Speaker did not give anyone ultimatum.
It came from the minority side, it is a video, it came from the minority side, but I am saying that this selective justice is wrong. He said he was going to do his investigation let him do it, the one who said bloody window does he not know the one?”.
The MP further reiterated, “In the same way, a bloody window was unnecessary, and the daughter of a murderer was unnecessary I don’t support any of them, but if you are punishing, you have to punish at the same level. Can you imagine a few months after the person’s husband died you come to parliament with placards saying she is a bloody window. Some members of parliament are women defending this statement. That time the speaker did not give anyone an ultimatum.
So they want to do a petition before it is changed that JB Danquah was not a CIA, IS that how Justice is administered, if you are selective in your punishment is that how to do it?
Zanetor, in parliament no one has a problem with her, she does not like to talk, after her debate she leaves parliament, when she meets you she greets nicely no one has a problem with her”, he revealed.
