Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, former Member of Parliament for Suame and Chairman of the Investigative Committee commissioned by the Ashanti Regional Executive has boldly stated that the former Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NPP, Dennis Kwakwa, did not leak the report on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) election defeat in the Ashanti Region.
Dennis Kwakwa, who was the Coordinator for all the committees, had been accused by a section of the party members of being responsible for the leakage.
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, speaking in a radio interview shared on Youtube rebutted the accusation, freeing Kwakwa of any wrongdoing.
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu narrated, “Kwakwa was not the one who leaked the report. He was the Coordinator for all the committees. He had the final draft after we had concluded our work and edited the report.
That is why some suspect he was the one who leaked it, but as I said, he is not the one. I have investigated and identified the person who leaked the report. But I can’t mention the name on air.
It was not deliberate; I think the person was passing it on to others, and in the process of transmitting it, whoever received it leaked the report”.
The former majority leader continued, “Only four people had a soft copy of the report. Kwakwa was the custodian because he was the Coordinator. When we concluded, we decided that nobody should have the report.
So even I, as the Chairman, didn’t have a copy of it. There was a need for us to give an elderly party member a copy, and we did so. Because the person was not in Kumasi, we had to send him a soft copy. There was a second person who was also key but had travelled. So he requested that a copy of the report be sent to him so he could read it while on his flight. And so it was sent to him. These two persons would not have leaked the report”.
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu added, “There was a group that the committee had met. We were very transparent with the group, and they requested a copy of the report when it was ready.
So we gave them a copy, but because the group was large, the report got leaked in the process of being transmitted among its members. It was not deliberate.”
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti Region Stephen Amoah commonly known as Sticka has threatened the New Patriotic Party executives.
According to Stephen Amoah, he will reveal the truth behind the NPP loss in the 2024 elections in the region, or he will expose it himself.
Stephen Amoah revealed that the NPP’s executive caucus, has filed a report to tarnish his image and that of his constituency in their election defeat report.
The member of parliament detailed that the report claimed he had an alternative campaign team for the election despite the one established by the party.
The former finance minister also added that the report accused him of not mounting posters and billboards which according to him is untrue.
Speaking in an interview on Hello FM on March 3, 2025, “How can they file a report about how we lost an election in the region and some people’s names won’t be featured? Is that what they want to do here? In this region, I don’t fear anybody, but I respect everybody.
Ask them if they have asked me anything before, my constituency chairwoman, first vice, or second vice, or even secretary, youth organizer up to Nasara. Who told them that we had an alternative campaign?”, he added.
Stephen Amoah added, “I have seen that in Nhyiaso, they have schemed to destroy me and my constituency. So, if they don’t come out and speak the truth and retract, I will also come out and tell the public about how we lost the election in the Ashanti region”.
