”Contractors who take our money must do the proper thing” – Dafeamekpor backs Roads Minister

Member of Parliament (MP) representing the South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor has backed Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Abgodza for taking on some contractors for doing a shoddy job on a major highway.

In a video shared on his X page, the Roads Minister could be heard chastising road contractors leaving sections of the road in  terrible state.

According to him, the contractors promised to complete work on some sections of the road in a week but as at the time of his visit which was two weeks past the deadline, the work had still not been done.

The Roads Minister was heard saying, “If we go into your books, you still have some money received from us. The money is not exhausted and can be used to do some work so at least for now make the road motorable. You gave us assurances that within one week you will work it out but it is 3 weeks now and no change.”

Reacting to this video, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor praised Kwame Abgodza for understanding his responsibilities and taking his job seriously.

“The Hon Kwame Agbodza understands his responsibilities as Roads Minister and takes his job seriously. He & his deputy, Hon Suhuyini, are seen in this video taking issues with shoddy road contractors. Contractors who take our money must do the proper thing. It’s that simple. Ghana is truly in a reset mode,” he wrote.

President John Dramani Mahama swore in Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways at the Flagstaff House in a brief ceremony held at the Flagstaff House on Wednesday 22 January 2025.

Kwame Agbodza, Member of Parliament for Adaklu Constituency, brings a wealth of experience to the role, combining his expertise as a seasoned architect and politician.

Kwame Agbodza’s impressive background includes earning qualifications from reputable institutions such as KNUST, Westminster University, and East London University. He is a chartered architect and has managed significant healthcare, education, and residential development projects across Ghana and the UK as a Principal Consultant at Kay + Partners Ltd.

As a chartered architect, he has successfully managed numerous high-profile healthcare, education, and residential development projects across Ghana and the UK while serving as Principal Consultant at Kay + Partners Ltd.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Hon. Agbodza has been an active politician since 2013. He has held various parliamentary positions, including Deputy Ranking Member, Ranking Member, Minority Chief Whip, and currently, Majority Chief Whip of the 9th Parliament.

Hon. Agbodza is also a distinguished member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Ghana Institute of Architects, showcasing his dedication to excellence in his field.
