Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has urged Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to publicly reveal the identity of the Member of Parliament allegedly paid to suppress media reports on the National Service Authority (NSA) ghost names scandal.
Braimah’s call follows Dr. Ayine’s disclosure during an update on investigations into the fraudulent payroll scheme in a Press Conference held on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The Attorney General revealed that former NSA Director General, Osei Assibey Antwi, had paid a sitting MP to block media coverage of the scandal, which involved the fraudulent inclusion of ghost names on the payroll. He also confirmed significant progress in uncovering corruption within the scheme.
Reacting to the revelation in a Facebook post, Braimah stressed the importance of transparency in the case, calling for full disclosure to ensure accountability.
“We call on the Attorney General (AG) to name the said MP to whom money was given to kill the story. Doing so will be in the interest of transparency and also to protect the reputation of Parliament,” he stated.
Former Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi, reportedly paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament (MP) to suppress media coverage of the ghost names scandal.
This was revealed by Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine during a briefing to parliament on Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
Dr. Ayine confirmed that significant progress had been made in uncovering corruption within the scheme.
“We also have evidence that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS and others paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to kill the story in the media and to defend them,” he stated during a press briefing.
