According to Manasseh Azure Awuni, he is not happy that 68 Ghana’s cities are not clean, the lights cannot be kept on and also there is the issue of galamsey menace.

In a post on his social media page on March 6, 2025, the Investigative Journalist wrote: “I’m not happy that at 68, we cannot clean our cities, keep lights on, have our taps flowing, and rid our forests of galamseyers.”

Manasseh Azure Awuni’s comments come as the country struggles with sanitation, erratic power supply, access to clean water, and the ongoing menace of illegal mining (galamsey) destroying water bodies and Forest reserves.

The Investigative Journalist in recent times has warned the Buzstopboys to reject any support from Jospong Zoomlion which seeks to take credit for their work.

According to him,  Buzstopboys appears more impactful than Zoomlion, which makes millions from sanitation contracts.

The journalist in a post on X wrote, “Today, some young men called @buzstopboys have emerged with almost bare hands and a willingness to keep Accra clean. Their work appears more impactful than Zoomlion, which makes hundreds of millions every year from sanitation contracts.

In this video, Elder Jospeh Siaw Agyepong, CEO of Zoomlion, is seen in a meeting with bloggers, and BuzStopBoys is the subject of this discussion. Zoomlion intends to donate to them, and as the female official says, the bloggers would publicise it widely”, he noted.

Manasseh further called on the BuzStopBoy to reject any support from Zoomlion, saying, “I call on BuzStopBoys to reject Zoomlion’s support. Don’t allow Zoomlion to take credit for your work. Our so-called leaders should do the sensible thing by giving resources to those who can do the job and not those who rely on bloggers and media hype while the country remains filthy”.

The investigative Journalist further made yet another shocking revelation about the government of Ghana since Kufuor regime.

According to Manasseh Azure Awuni, the government since John Agykum Kufuor has siphoned billions of cedis from different ministries to multiple Jospong companies mainly to Zoomlion.

He revealed that many of those contracts are tainted with corruption with Ghana remaining filthy.

Manasseh Azure Awuni on X wrote, “ Governments since Kufuor have siphoned billions of cedis from different ministries to multiple Jospong companies (mainly Zoomlion) in the name of sanitation. Many of these contracts are tainted with corruption. The country remains filthy, but the politicians claim they cannot cut Zoomlion’s monopoly because Jospong has the resources.

They lie, forgetting that when the Kufuor administration sidelined City and Country Waste and other well-established sanitation companies in 2006 and awarded shady, nationwide sanitation contracts to Zoomlion, Zoomlion had no equipment and resources to compete. Out of those contracts, the company acquired resources. If any other company got the opportunity Zoomlion had, it would be resourceful”, he added.

Manasseh Awuni further reiterated his position that the assemblies should be given back their resources to manage sanitation instead of the government channelling the funds to Zoomlion.

“If the assemblies need services, they can hire groups like BuzStopBoys to help”, he added.

Meanwhile, Manasseh Azure Awuni has also warned the Greater Accra Minister Linda Ocloo that her relying on Zoomlion to solve filth in Ghana is like partnering with a convicted paedophile.

Manasseh Awuni has over the years trailed Jospong with all kinds of allegations and stories and pushes for governments to bring the Jospong conglomerate down which has fallen on deaf ears.

He also revealed that the current arrangement between Zoomlion and YEA reveals that  Zoomlion receives GHS 850 but the workers take home GHS 250 a month.
