Omanhene Kwabena Asante a broadcast journalist has boldly revealed that a galamseyer promised to give him Ghc1 million every month to stop making noise about galamsey.
According to Omanhene Kwabena Asante, the feedback he got from his advocacy work against galamsey revealed that it was not what was being said in Accra.
He noted that on the ground it is a different ball game altogether from what is being said in Accra at the seminars organised by the former Lands minister and now the current one is also following suit.
Speaking on Wontumi TV, Omanhene Kwabena Asante narrated, “The illegality in terms of the mining sector is getting out of hand, which is true, when you go out there you will see it physically the NPP has destroyed the lands and today the NDC has taken over. That is why they are threatened I have pictures on my phone from just last week, from Goaso going through Bibiani.
In fact, I did a program at Wassa Akropong with OB, and we went to speak against illegal mining at that material moment the then Land minister was doing a training section or a seminar at the Kempinski the way this new minister is doing. I spoke against it”, he added.
He further stated, “The illegality of the mining we are talking about is not about meeting at Kempinski, at that time when we were doing that advocacy the minister then Abu Jinapor got angry at us, the feedback we got from there tells you it is not about what it said in Accra it is a different game altogether.
When I was the advocate for such illegality I was there and a young man came to me saying if I liked I should give him 30,000 cedis every month he would give me 1 million ghana cedis for me to stop the noise on illegal mining, I have said it several times. He will go for a concession”, the journalist stated emphatically.
Meanwhile, Saddick Adams, the morning show host of Angel FM has shockingly dropped a bombshell of information about illegal miners in Ghana’s forest.
According to Saddick Adams, illegal miners have hired militants from Cameroon and Ivory Coast to protect them in the forest.
He asserted that these groups, known for their terrorism, are armed and fully prepared to shoot to kill as he bears witness to this.
The journalist further revealed that these militants are mostly found in the Western Region protecting Galamseyer.
Speaking on Angel FM, Saddick Adams detailed, “The galamsey fight is over just mining, I can boldly tell you that currently there a Cameroonian militants in the Ghanaian forest, and there are Ivorian militants. Those who have been visiting galamsey sites can share this with you. I have gone to see some for myself.
Those in our galamsey sites a lot of them are not Ghanaians, I am not talking about those mining but those holding weapons to guide them, are not Ghanaians, especially in the Western Region”, he added.
Saddick Adams emphasised, “The Bengagu militants are in Ghana, and the illegal miners have gone to hire militants from Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast border, so the Western Region is illegal miners are protected by the militants and they were recruited into terrorism. They don’t listen to anyone, they just shoot to kill and have pickups prepared for them to run to Cote d’Ivoire if the situation is heated”.
