According to the parents, their decision to send him to Ghana was not to punish him but rather to protect him, as they suspected he was being groomed by gangs in London.

However, the boy claimed that his parents tricked him into believing that the trip to Ghana was to visit a sick relative.

A narrator of the story detailed, “A 14-year-old boy who tried to sue his own parents for sending him from London to  Ghana to go to boarding school has lost his case.

The high court in London heard how his parents were worried that he was being corrupted by gangs in London and feared for his safety and moved him not as a punishment but to protect him”, she added.

She continued, “But the boy said his parent tricked him, and that the visit was to see a sick relative, he told the court he was living in hell and that he had never been part of a gang and wanted to go back to his old school.

But the Judge said he was satisfied that the parents moved their child abroad out of love and the teenager was a risk of suffering greater harm coming back to the UK”, she revealed.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have expressed their opinion about the story saying, “This outcome underscores the legal system’s stance on parental responsibility in protecting minors, even when it clashes with a young person’s desire for autonomy”.

An X user stated some Ghanaian parents abroad normally bring their children to Ghana to study about the culture and more, the user wrote, “I know some Ghanaian parents who bring their children here in Ghana 🇬🇭 to go school learn about the culture and more and I think that’s a good thing cause out there deiii Charlie hmm is really risky and someway be see a son who wants to sue his parents like how”.

“Same thing happened to a friend of mine from Germany 😹he will bound train without paying so his parents has send him to boarding school in Ghana as punishment 😹”, a social media user stated.
