Ghanaian media personality and broadcast journalist, Paul Adom-Otchere has said the Special aide to President Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari sheepishly bought a government car for GHS14,000 and is now threatening Ghanaians with the court.
According to Paul Adom Otchere, Joyce Bawa in 2017 a day before President Akufo-Addo was sworn into office bought a state car for 14,000 cedis.
Joyce Bawa Mogtari in a post on X stated she would not hesitate to take legal action against perpetrators of fake news unlike before.
Joyce Bawa revealed, that leading members of the NPP have targeted her out of frustration and constantly throw accusations at her.
She revealed that the valuation of the vehicles she bought was done by the STC.
She wrote, “My adherence to law and service to Ghana is buttressed by the fact that I have not been the subject of any investigation or complaint regarding the acquisition of the said vehicle”.
Valuation of vehicles is done by STC and as the experts, they have their established criteria for conducting valuations on vehicles so it is completely out of place for anyone to attack me for the price of the vehicle when the real questions should be directed at STC to lay bare the parameters for conducting valuations to determine prices of vehicles”, she added.
Reacting to Joyce Bawa’s post Paul Adom Otchere noted that Joyce Bawa is now talking about people under the former Akufo-Addo government appointees buying state lands while she bought a state car that should have cost 160,000 cedis for 14,700 cedis.
Speaking on one of his episodes on Good Evening Ghana, Adom Octhere detailed, “ Joyce Bawa, you may be right about a lot of the things you are saying but who are you threatening, who are you taking to court, you bought the car, you sheepishly bought a government car for 14,000 cedis when the cost of the car was 160,000 cedis you go and buy it as 14,000 cedis you are telling us you would take us to court.
Go to the court, you owe Ghana, I don’t owe Ghana, you have stolen the people’s car, it is for the people, you bought it for 14,000 cedis because you said STC says you should buy it”, he added.
Adom Otchere added, “You are suffering from a deficit of morality, you don’t have the moral right to comment about anybody you took the taxpayers’ money to your house for 14,000 cedis when it should have been for over a hundred thousand and ORAL is talking about people who have to collect Cantoments lands for 150,000 instead of this.
Joyce Bawa you should go to ORAL, ORAL investigate Joyce Bawa let see whether he has the moral right to acquire the vehicle Operation Recover All Loots 14,700. Joyce Bawa come again you are not more Ghanaian than anybody, relax you have won an election but you are not more Ghanaian than anybody else”, Adom Otchere added.
Paul Adom Otchere further reiterated that Joyce Bawa bought a state car for 14,700 cedis and is telling us that somebody is a thief.
He added, “You go and take a State car for 14,700 cedis and come and tell us that somebody is a thief. Joyce Bawa you can’t say that, another person can say it maybe Kofi Boakye can say it, Domelevo may be able to say that but not you Joyce Bawa.
This is you Joyce Bawa acquiring a car the day Akufo-Addo was sworn in, you were in a hurry writing documents. She paid in cash, you bought this car for 14.700 cedis because you are a deputy minister so you should get this car for 14,700 cedis if you have done it that time it was good, Akufo-Addo has put an end to it.
Akufo-Addo has issued a policy against it, so it never happened in 2024, none of Akufo-Addo’s ministers went to STC. After your 20 years of experience at the Bar, you went to buy a car for 14,700 cedis”, Adom Octhere noted.
