Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adogyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has issued a one week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare the New Patriotic Party as the winner of the Parliamentary elections in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The Ablekuma North constituency is the only constituency out of the 276 with its results still outstanding.
The EC, at its Greater Accra Regional Officer on December 10, 2024 declared the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ewurabena Aubynn as the winner, beating the NPP’s Nana Akua Owusu Afriyieh.
The EC however later nullified the declaration, calling for a re-collation of results, an exercise which has been marred by several incidents of violence and confrontations.
According to the Minority Chief Whip, they are not going to allow the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to bully them for the Ablekuma North constituency because they won the elections fair and square.
He also accused the NDC of deliberately burning pink sheets because they want to force for a re-election and they in the NPP won’t stand for that.
“We won’t stand and watch for the NDC to intimidate us and steal the Ablekuma North seat from us because we know we have won. The NDC wants a re-election but they will never get their wish.”
“They wouldn’t have burnt the ballot papers and pink sheet if they had won the elections and we are giving the Electoral Commission one week ultimatum to declare the seat for NPP else they will hear from us,” Annoh-Dompreh said.
