Kofi Ofosu Nkansah the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has fired shots at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for publishing a wanted poster for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah noted that a national office cannot be used like that when Ken Ofori-Atta is collaborating with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) through his lawyers.
According to Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, does the OSP want Ken Ofori-Atta to leave the procedure he is undergoing and come and die?
In a Facebook post on Monday, February 17, 2025, Nkansah wrote, “You don’t use a national office for this when the person is collaborating with your office through his lawyers and you haven’t provided any evidence to the contrary that he is not at the said US hospital”
“Should he leave the procedure he is undergoing and come and die? This is really shameful, and all well-meaning Ghanaians must condemn this,” he added.
His comments come after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) published a poster of Ken Ofori-Atta as wanted.
Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), the loss reduction contract between ECG and Beijing Jao and Health Ministry to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances.
The OSP during a press conference stated, “The fugitive’s name is Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta. Mr Ofori-Atta is 66 years old. He was the minister of Finance of the republic between 2017 and 2024. Mr Ofori-Atta left the jurisdiction on or around 2 January 2025.
On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect with respect to four of the cases above. Mr Ofori-Atta was asked to attend in person on Monday 10th February 2025 at 10GMT for an interview…Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds…”
Meanwhile, Ken Ofori-Atta has been described as a wanted criminal by Wikipedia a free online encyclopedia, created and edited by volunteers.
According to Ken Ofori Atta’s overview on Wikipedia, he has been labelled as a Ghanaian investment banker and a wanted criminal who served as the Minister for Finance.
Part of the Wikipedia overview reads, “He is also a wanted criminal by the Ghanaian authorities and has been declared as a fugitive from justice”.
