National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has pledged the government will do all in its power to ensure every Akufo-Addo appointee implicated in corruption related scandals is brought to book.
Reference former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, he indicated that geographic locations of these appointees will not be a barrier to justice.
“Wherever Ken Ofori-Atta is hiding, they’d get him to answer questions on the cases of corruption against him. He will come. All of them, every crime they have committed, they would account,” he stated in a video posted on X.
Asiedu Nketia assured Ghanaians the current NDC administration is committed to ensuring accountability, even among its members.
“We will tighten the noose on accountability, and even elements within this government who engage in corrupt activities will not go scot-free,” he added.
His comments come at the back of the OSP’s declaration of Ken Ofori-Atta wanted in connection with ongoing corruption cases.
The minority in parliament have opposed the description of Ken Ofori-Atta as wanted, accusing of the OSP of being engaged in witch-hunting.
The NPP party also held a press conference on Thursday, February 13, 2025 to address the claim of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng. Addressing the press, National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) described the description of the OSP as “unreasonable.”
“Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta can never be a fugitive. He is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong,” he stated.
According to him, the allegation against Ken Ofori-Atta are “sensational statements” seeking to create unnecessary drama in the country.
